Ethereal artwork is a mixed media landscape painting built around the contrast between darkness and light. Tall, slender trees frame a bright opening in the forest, drawing the eye toward the centre of the composition. Deep charcoal tones surround bursts of green, yellow and white, creating an atmospheric sense of depth. I wanted the light to feel almost alive in this piece. It pushes through the darker forest and changes the mood of everything around it. The contrast gives the painting an immersive quality, somewhere between a real landscape and something imagined.
