Fragment
Fragment Drawing explores the human face through a more abstract and geometric approach. Instead of relying on smooth shading, I built the portrait from small angular forms. Together, they create the features, shadows and expression. The fragmented structure changes how the portrait reads up close and from a distance. Individual shapes become more noticeable nearby. Step back, and they begin to connect into a single face. The strong contrast around the mouth and eyes gives the piece much of its intensity.
