Marathon Runner
Marathon Runner Painting is an acrylic portrait that captures the energy and determination of a runner in motion. The figure emerges from an expressive background of splattered paint, loose marks and subtle colour. This gives the piece a sense of movement without losing the realism of the subject. I wanted the painting to feel active rather than posed. The runner is caught in the middle of the effort, while the marks surrounding him carry that movement beyond the figure itself. The contrast between the detailed portrait and the spontaneous background gives the piece its energy.

Marathon Runner is part of my realism paintings, where recognizable subjects meet a looser and more expressive approach to painting.
