Old Moon artwork is a mixed media landscape painting built around an oversized, heavily textured moon. Its pale surface sits in sharp contrast to the warm reds, oranges and earthy tones below. Fine black lines rise through the landscape, adding movement and giving the piece an almost surreal quality. I wanted the moon to completely dominate the scene. The texture gives it a physical presence, while the layers of colour underneath bring warmth and energy into the landscape. I like the tension between the two, something quiet and familiar above, with something much more active happening below.
