Skullopus Drawing brings together two very different forms: the structure of a human skull and the fluid movement of an octopus. The tentacles twist around and through the composition, gradually becoming part of the figure rather than simply surrounding it. I kept much of the drawing restrained and detailed, then used loose washes and splattered marks around it. That contrast gives the central figure more definition while keeping the background raw and atmospheric.
