Off the Canvas
I’m Alex Sauret, an accomplished and versatile visual artist and business owner from Toronto, Canada. My artistic journey began in childhood, frequently getting noticed by teachers for sketching for classmates’ projects. Over time, I delved into different facets of the arts, striving to find my unique niche. The story deepens in the lines below.
A bit of history
In 2015, I graduated from Humber College’s Visual & Digital Arts program, winning consecutive juried art contests for my mixed media paintings. During my time there, I also crafted the winning storefront window concept, “In the Air,” for Holt Renfrew’s Yonge & Bloor location. My artwork reflects a wide range of styles and imagination, particularly showcased in my large scale mixed media paintings.
In 2020, I co-founded and designed a poker darts game, Texas Toss’em®, alongside my business partner. Additionally, I serve as a digital media and art director for Ontario Skateboarding, a recreational non-profit organization. I thrive on being a forward thinking, creative self starter, interpreting directions to achieve aesthetic objectives.
A few thoughts
I believe in embracing new perspectives to fuel creativity, blending modern and contemporary concepts. In my landscape and cityscape paintings, I incorporate real branches, recyclables, and biomass to add a tangible, stylish element. Salvador Dali’s quote, “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it,” resonates deeply with me. Inspired by the raw beauty of my city’s worn down buildings and rustic elements, I infuse this ethos into my mixed media pieces.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve cultivated a refined skillset in the visual arts, allowing me to innovate and create without limitations. Whether experimenting with paint, different materials, or unexplored concepts, I strive to bring something fresh and unique to each artistic endeavour.
