Black Palm is an original acrylic painting built around a small group of palm trees emerging from a layered black, white and grey landscape. I kept the palette deliberately restrained, using contrast and texture rather than colour to shape the scene. The palms become the main vertical elements in the composition. Two sit sharply in the foreground, while another fades into the background. Around them, the painted surface shifts from deep black through softer greys and into an almost open white space.
