Skies of Cairns is an original acrylic landscape painting inspired by the changing evening sky in Cairns, Australia. Layers of blue, coral, pink and warm orange stretch across the canvas, while the darker tropical landscape and palm tree below create a strong contrast with the light above. At 36″ × 60″, the vertical format gives the sky most of the composition. Repeated cloud formations move across the surface in layers, gradually becoming warmer toward the horizon, while the foreground remains darker and more detailed.
